Interesting facts about me

Patrons of
Elma Theater
in
Elma, WA. USA
Please visit
for our main theater home web pages
As you may have already observed on our main theater home web page (if you came from there), our last major imported attractions were Vaude DeVille with guests Wrinkles of Washington , The Nutcracker All Jazzed Up by High Impact Dance Company and Dancers Unlimited's Annual Recital
May be able to find;
info on Symphony concert reschedule which was rescheduled several times from Nov 12, 07, to March 8, 2008, now sometime in March 2009. Now probably cancelled again because building closed under abatement orders by Elma Building Official/Fire Marshal waiting for a electrical inspection he has demanded thence a possible very expensive electrical remodel which would cost more than the building is worth so finance unavailable. Hope to try to reschedule again if and when Theater ever opens again.
by click on below link.
Our schedules for remainder of 2008 and 2009 is blank or tentative still and will remain so until we know if we can sell enough tickets to guarentee advanced booking fees for any more imported venues if and when building repairs completed. We do know that once again by request from a new group of young people that we will be putting yet another of our annual productions of Alice in Wonderland up hopefully in order to meet the Queen of Hearts around Valentine's Day of 2009 or the White Rabbit again around Easter of 2009. Our annual production of Scrooge no doubt again (maybe last one or two weekends in 2008 before Christmas had been cancelled and now furthur cancelled due to huge snowstorm. And we are trying to book in another opera by N.O.I.S.E. (Northwest Operas In Schools) (last time here they performed Daughter of The Regiment). Still trying to book in another show directed by Mr. Patrick D. Hart from a theater in North Hollywood. We are still trying to get up repeats of one of the plays The Odd Couple (male version or female version). Keep recasting actors due to the losses caused by their relocation caused by loss of local employment.
This page and community web still under construction and or last revised as of December 27, 2008.
We started these pages by accumulating some pictures of our ongoing theater ceiling restoration efforts by Connie Bevington on this community's Pictures page to be viewed by clicking on "Pictures" on the left of this window. We all appreciate this very tedious stencil art work being done by Connie on a 25 foot high ladder on the left side of the auditorium. The right side will go up in prepainted 4x8 panels as soon as we can afford to rent the scaffolding.
--- Wow! Now thanks to Tom Rose we now have the free use of scaffolding until he needs it which is already up and we are making some progress.
Thanks to Tom we made a lot of progress Now renting scaffolding for one month to finish effort
Revised 12/27/08 Work on ceiling restoration now complete .

Even though Good Doctor by Neil Simon performances are long ago done & over with click "Documents" on left for old casting callbacks & "Pictures" for scenes mostly from rehearsals.

The 2002, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 big band concerts by The Washington State American Legion Band were great successes. We appreciate all the donations that helped with both their and our show expenses. More important though was the show of support by your attendance to these great shows. Next annual concert(later than usual Sept. 2008 cancelled) now 2009 will no doubt be even better. The booking date for this concert which seems to be becoming an annual tradition will not be the same. Instead of around the first weekend in September, 2009 it may be sometime in November. The September 2004 American Legion Band Concert featured a special guest artist. Mr Louis Stewart born in Aberdeen WA. now living in Boston
(Where he is prof. of Composition & Conducting at Berklee College) conducting one of his own compositions and playing two piano solos). He was heartily welcomed by the audience. A small video clip of this now on our theater web site
We are now casting (people of all ages) for our next annual productions of Alice in Wonderland, maybe in 2009 (hopefully you saw us do this in March 2005 along with Scrooge , & Die Fledermouse in Dec.
We need one more of six male adult and one more of two female adult support actors for the male version of The Odd Couple. The two lead roles are in rehearsal already and doing very well. We still need a few adult sized singers for our now annual major effort to present a sing in of Die Fledermaus on one or two of the evenings or so before New Years Eve.
See our main page link to our 2008 Schedule and eventual if we have not sold the buildings 2009 for actual bookings as and if they are finalized. We are trying to sell the theater, house, & bank to someone that will keep them together for future Elma residents so we can retire. This may take a while because it's hard to find someone willing to donate that much of a guareented (probably)retirement income with the theatrical skills and technical skills. Todays real estate market makes it hard for someone to sell what they may own as He did in May 1991 when He bought the theater. Kingsley will be 75 years old on Sept. 18th, 2009 So, This is why the theater properties on market now. Hopefully someone will step up to the plate before he's 80 years old

We will be taking inventory of our available resources (ie people & funds) and decide what else we may want to do for the rest of 2008 and 2009 soon

A great venue was our booking in of the fabulous Russian Chorus. This happened Sunday 4/4/2004. We hope to book them in again per popular demand soon in 2008 or 9. We will begin re-negotiations with Them soon.

One of two Symphony orchestras from Seattle or SW WA, A ballet company's Swan Lake and a guest Steinway Artist of The Year Award Winner concert as soon as we find out how many advance tickets we can sell on contingency. This means if we don't sell enough tickets we cancel and return the checks. (no cash please)
An anonymous Elma business man is still negotiating for a Christmas Concert by The Singing Nuns from Spokane.
Rehearsals are held at the theater 6 - 8 PM Wednesday evenings. If you have never tried acting you have missed a lot of fun. But call first because we don't always meet yet because it's too cold to heat theater and pellets may be rationed as they were last year. That's why we cancelled last years Scrooge performance

We are now meeting in the office until we rent it again that was rented to The US Dept of Highways. Door just to right of main theater entrance doors. 115 N 4th Street. This until repairs in auditorium ceiling & electrical etc completed. Our 2008 Schedule of Events has been added to our main web page and will be well maintained listing all venues as soon as they are finalized.

On past schedules you can find links to past venue info. It is our intention to retroactively have links to videos and pictures of most past venues within past years schedules if we can. If anyone has pictures, videos, or historical info of these events please contact Kingsley
so he can borrow them for insertion on our web
Meanwhile; if you didn't get here from there, or you can return to, and/or view our-- "Elma Theater" main theater web sight by clicking
If you go back to above be sure to click on the community web (now yuku.com) link for info on our Old Elma Bank Bldg purchase and exterior restoration efforts. Not sure what we are going to do with interior. Probably rent out front 3/4 & keep back 1/4 for theater set building and storage ( or vice versa). Might turn front part into a more intimate playhouse for dramas or video projction. Presently using whole building for a shop for setbuilding & storage.
Note: We have purchased the house at 415 W. Young Street that's back yard is also the backyard of the theater. Along with above mentioned Old Elma Bank Bldg there might be enough rental income to keep the theater going after K.S.Hall's death and loss of his retirement income without which the theater would financially fail. A proposed financial reorgaization paper is viewable on the last link from our main page which may be finalized only if Kingsley Hall's family heirs are convinced the East Grays Harbor County & Elma citizens care. Our participation & attendance by local people is not very convincing.
